    I believe it is 49 million to be exact. It was calculated by Bill Lembeck mathematically knowing a bottle of champagne is 750 ml, about 5.5 atmospheres at 20 degrees C and some other details taken into consideration. Quite accurate estimation, but…
    there also was another calculation!

    Bruno Dutertre headed a three year, $7 million joint-project between Moet & Chandon and Heineken to “understand and study the influence of chemical and physical parameters on the formation of bubbles and the stability of the mousse” between 1986 and 1989. He actually managed to count, sort of speaking, the bubbles, through technological devices and computer technologies, and his numbers are quite different - average of 250 million bubbles in a bottle of Champagne!
